DO YOU HAVE ASTHMA?
This month we are doing an asthma campaign at the pharmacy. This campaign has been though to help you to understand your disease and treatment. We would train you in your medical dispositive and in your inhalation technique.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS ASTHMA?
Asthma is a chronic, lifelong, inflammatory disease. These means that your bronchus become very sensitive in front of stimulus from the environment, and they become obstructed with viscous mucus.
The main symptoms are:
- Sibilance (like whistles when breathing)
- Dyspnea (difficulty breathing)
- Cough (worst at night and early in the morning)
- Thoracic oppression
The severity of asthma is classified according to the frequency of day/night symptoms, how it affects daily activities, use, number of times and doses of the rescue inhaler and lung function.
ARE YOU FOLLOWING WELL YOUR TREATMENT?
It is very important to take the inhalers correctly as otherwise asthma is not well controlled, and the symptoms become worse. To know if you are control is good there is the TAI test, depending on the result you will be able to know if you are adherent to the treatment or not. You can do the test in the pharmacy or at home. If you want to do it yourself follow the next link: https://www.taitest.com/.
DO YOU HAVE ASTHMA WELL CONTROLLED?
Having well-controlled asthma is very important in order to prevent exacerbations and lung function. This is achieved with an optimal and well-adjusted pharmacological treatment as well as measures of supervision, environmental control and asthma education.
If you come to the pharmacy, we can help you to check if you have the treatment well controlled and you are using the inhalers correctly with the incheck-dial device.
